Mikaela Orozco

Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SPLA), Special Education Teacher

As a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant and Special Education Teacher, Mikaela Orozco brings experience and knowledge to Winston Center. Leading our Mindful Learners program, she’s committed to helping her clients navigate learning challenges and achieve their goals.

Mikaela assists in designing and implementing treatment programs for children with dyslexia and other language-based conditions. As the head of the Mindful Learners program, she is pivotal in developing curriculum and classroom environments that serve students with learning challenges. She works closely with her colleagues to ensure all Winston Center clients get the assistance and support they need.

With a background in special education, Mikaela knows children — regardless of learning style — possess unique talents and strengths. Prior to joining our organization, Mikaela worked as a special education teacher at NewBridge School, an Orton-Gillingham-based school for students with dyslexia and other language-based disorders in Poway, California.

Mikaela is a Certified Special Education teacher in the state of Washington. She is also trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach. Mikaela earned a master’s degree in special education from Grand Canyon University and has a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences from Portland State University.

In addition to her experience in the classroom, Mikaela is the founder of Inspirations Dance Studio, an all-inclusive dance studio specializing in working with individuals with special needs. Mikaela grew up dancing — Inspirations Dance Studio was the perfect opportunity to combine two of her passions: dancing and helping others.

When she isn’t working with clients, Mikaela enjoys spending time with her husband and young child. Together, they’re often watching Disney movies or playing with their two energetic dogs.
